Spent a great afternoon mountainboarding today on the helm. Some bikers have made a dirt jump. Whilst initially rather narrow, we widened it and eventually it was mountainboardable. Great fun despite a few stacks. I can’t even touch the height rod gets though! More photos to follow of Rod.

Well it looks like the bracken has grown, since I last went up there (http://www.mountain-bike-cumbria.co.uk/photography/2006/58.htm) , did you like the jump? I have ridden it a few times before, but I would not do it on a board as I like having breaks! I should also have this pic (http://www.mountain-bike-cumbria.co.uk/photography/2006/60.htm) in singletrack magazine next month with some luck.

The bracken is very tall now- so much so that you cannot use it as a runout as you slow down much too quickly and end up nose-diving off the front of the board. The landing is nice and soft although very dusty. When we powerslide out (yes, no brakes!), a lot of dirt starts flying around. Reckon once we widen it a bit more we should be able to hit 180’s at least. Thanks for the pics, I wouldn’t have recognised them as the same jump! I’ll keep an eye on the magazines.
